Frequently Asked Questions

1. When is the application deadline?
Students should apply early! While there is no application deadline, students are encouraged to complete the application process two weeks prior to registering.

2. I've taken the SAT - do I have to take a placement test?
Refer to the CFCC College Catalog and Student Handbook for minimal acceptable SAT scores.

3. Do I have to take developmental classes?
Developmental courses are required if placement test results indicate the need for remedial work. Developmental courses are designed to improve English, reading, and math skills required for college success.

4. When do I need to send a copy of my high school transcript to CFCC?
To be accepted at CFCC, an official transcript is required showing the actual date of graduation.

5. I am undecided about a program of study. Who do I talk to?
Contact the Career and Testing Office 910.362.7043, for a career assessment test or visit the Career and Testing website.

6. How will I know if I've been accepted?
Students will receive a letter of acceptance by mail once all admission criteria have been met.

7. I'm interested in a medical program. What are the requirements?
All medical programs are selective admission, and each has specific program requirements. See a Counselor in Student Development or call 910.362.7558. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Friday. (Summer hours may vary.)

8. How do I apply for Financial Aid?
Complete a "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA) that can be obtained from a Counselor or the Financial Aid Office at CFCC. Inquiries may be directed to CFCC's Financial Aid Department at 910.362.7055.

9. What is full-time enrollment?
Twelve semester hours for Fall and Spring semesters, and nine semester hours for Summer semester.

10. Do I need to make an appointment to come in and talk to someone?
Appointments are not necessary. Student Development Offices are open from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Friday. (Summer hours may vary.)

11. How much will I have to pay to attend CFCC for one semester?
Current tuition and fees are listed online. Tuition and fees are due at the time of registration. Questions concerning book prices may be directed to the CFCC Bookstore at 910.362.7379.

12. How do I know what classes to take?
All students are assigned an academic advisor who will assist with course selection.
