Critical Thinking: What it is and Why it Counts - This 2006 update of Peter Facione's 1998 article offers a thorough and readable discussion of the benefits of critical thinking as well as precise definitions of the cognitive skills and affective dispositions that underlie critical thinking. This 21-page essay is written primarily for students and the general public and highlights the social and civic benefits of critical thinking.
The Critical Thinking Community - This site, sponsored by the Foundation for Critical Thinking and the Center for Critical Thinking, offers a wealth of resources including full-text articles and materials for purchase (books, mini-guides, videos, posters). The site also contains a series of discussion forums devoted to critical thinking with participants from around the country.
