Breta Cecile Carnes is originally from Wilmington and Whiteville, North Carolina. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and a Maters of Fine Arts in Sculpture from East Carolina University. Carnes also has a Masters degree in Art from Appalachian State University. Carnes has made sculptures and exhibited in New Mexico, New York, Latvia, Estonia, Finland and Italy. She works in a variety of materials including cast bronze, iron, stone, and welded steel.
