the guidelines listed below and gain appropriate approval from his/her
department chair, and their appropriate dean. Each proposed or existing cou=

if delivered by distance learning, shall be separately reviewed and approve=
d by
department chair, and dean. T=

role of the Distance Learning Department is to provide support to the
instructor and department chair, in order to help ensure that course standa=
rds
based upon SACS Best Practices for Electronically Delivered Programs=
are
met, and to provide instructor training.
We have identified C=
ourse Guidelines
and a DL Course Checklist based on SACS Best Practices and noted authorities
within the field of DL to guide faculty in course development. Elements in =
the
Course Checklist include types of learning, goals, objectives; activities to
achieve the objectives; appropriate technology to deliver instruction;
structured interaction between faculty and students; opportunities for stud=
ent
to student interaction; and evaluation strategies.
