QEP Team meets; initiative groups report on progress; issues involving responsibilities for supervising and teaching college success course are discussed; specifics ideas for English comp also discussed; a draft of a General Ed faculty survey is reviewed.

November 4, 2005

QEP Team meets; initiative teams report on progress; ideas about professional development opportunities getting faculty buy-in are discussed; the potential benefit of creating "learning communities" or thematically clustered courses is introduced by student representatives; end of semester goals are discussed.

College Council is updated on the progress being made in each initiative area.

October 21, 2005

QEP Team meets; initiative groups report on progress; the specifics of a college success course initiative and the General Education Team’s ideas about curricular changes are discussed; ideas are to be shared with College Council at upcoming meeting.

QEP Team meets; initiative groups share ideas; the need for developing a standard critical thinking rubric is discussed; linking initiatives together through generalized learning outcomes and anticipating the professional development needs of each initiative also discussed.

QEP update to College Council; discussion of the four initiatives being explored by the QEP Team.

September 23, 2005

QEP Team meets; the initiative groups share ideas generated in their weekly meetings and begin noting emerging themes, particularly an emphasis on inquiry and the importance of self-regulating reasoning (metacognition), especially in terms of understanding one’s own learning style.  Consulting with appropriate leadership on each initiative is also discussed.

September 9, 2005

QEP Team meets; introduces new faculty and student members; team divides into small groups to explore four specific, interrelated initiatives for improving students’ critical thinking skills; groups to begin meeting on their own to compile ideas and literature review.

August 19, 2005

QEP newsletter distributed to faculty and staff at fall in-service meeting.  Members of the QEP Team conduct two afternoon presentations about the progress and development of the QEP; attendees provided with an informational handout and asked to respond to a brief survey.
